Tooling Engineer




Plant Manager


The Mexico Tooling Engineer position is responsible of the evaluation, reparation, modification, acquisition and administration of our tools, and is the tooling expert mentor to other areas of the organization. Also, will make sure to manage, continually improve, and employ use of standards for NGW's tool design guidelines and specifications.


  • Tool Build / Repair / Refurbishment Sourcing: Evaluate and verify tooling requirements to determine tool build and repair sourcing, identify and manage scope changes
  • Production & Engineering Tooling Support: Serve as a subject matter expert to production and engineering on tooling related issues, supports MRB & CAPA processes
  • Critique of Part Design: Subject matter expert of DFM process for optimum tooling and processing performance
  • Tooling Time & Cost Reduction: Developing continuous improvement solutions; fiscal responsibility regarding sourcing and purchasing of tooling; integration into Nolato system
  • Tool Revision Quoting & Support: Develop and establish cost estimates, project options, and design alternatives, support tooling verification process
  • Tooling Department Support: Utilizing appropriate resources, review, recommend, justify and procure equipment and supplies to support NGW's tooling department
  • Tool Design Guidelines Manage, continually improve, and employ use of standards for NGW's tool design guidelines and specifications
  • Change Requests / Notifications: Initiate tooling change requests, provide direction for tool correction/repair
  • Manage Tooling Sources Manage: approved vendor tool sourcing and relationships supporting compliance with NGW standards 



  • Mechanical Engineer
  • Experience 7+ years 
  • Problem Solving: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) anticipating, analyzing, diagnosing, resolving
  • Decision Making: Process / data-driven decisions
  • DOE Knowledge: Author, review, evaluate, develop conclusions, teach
  • IQ / OQ / PQ: Interpreting technical agreements, evaluation/application/execution of validation protocols
  • Leadership Skills: Relationship building, ability to teach and mentor
  • Task & Time Management : Planning, prioritizing, successfully manages time
  • Control Plan Development : Evaluates risk management, actively participates/updates PFMEA, understands SPC, technical writing
  • Statistical Knowledge: Training: NGW applied stats training/applicable cert., use of Minitab, making decisions from stat. analysis
  • Lean Tools / TPM: Understands and applies: Kaizen, Hoshin, Gemba, PM, TPM, 5S
  • Process Development: Understanding Scientific Molding, RJG, and MKS, create Process Maps
  • Adherence to Policy: Extent to which employee understands and applies safety / conduct / company policies
  • IQMS Knowledge: Department-specific knowledge, cross-functional understanding, utilizes applicable reports
  • Communication: Internal / external, written / verbal
  • Personal Accountability: Capacity to be answerable for personal actions
