Health & Safety Officer

Nolato Sligo is an award-winning mould-building company, and a growing medical device precision injection moulding business that has been successfully serving Ireland and the broader European markets for over 35 years. 

We are currently seeking a full-time Health & Safety officer to lead and manage all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety matters across the Sligo sites.

Responsibilities:

• Control, monitor and assess the status of Health & Safety for all machines, processes, materials and working practices.
• Liaise with all relevant departments and other appropriate bodies on Health & Safety matters.
• Ensure compliance with all necessary Environmental, Health, and Safety legislation.
• Maintain an active risk assessment and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) program
• Implement a Health, Safety and Environmental audit program.
• Chair the Health, Safety and Environmental committee including CAPA management.
• Raise awareness of Environmental, Health, and Safety standards through an active training program.
• Adopt a preventative approach to reduce the number of accidents and near misses.
• Ensure that the company adopts appropriate Environmental, Health, and Safety strategies and participate in the implementation and sustainability of HSE standards.
• Ensure all machinery and utilities satisfy the current codes of practice.
• Manage external contractors during both routine inspections and specific Projects.

• Promote a continuous improvement culture around Health & Safety in Avenue.

• Ordering and stock management of production consumables (including PPE).
• Work to and within the quality management system.

Skills and Experience: 

• Qualification in environmental science, occupational safety, or a related field is essential.
• Previous EHS experience in the manufacturing or medical device industry.
• Developed and implemented improved EHS Programs.
• Strong decision-making skills and the ability to build respect and influence at all levels across the company.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proven track record working with cross functional teams and the ability to motivate teams to take ownership and accountability for actions.
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office.
• Organised and able to meet tight deadlines with excellent time management skills.
