Mold Maintenance Technician

Join Nolato GW at our Bethel, Vermont plant location! We are looking for a Full Time Mold Maintenance Technician. Under some supervision, this role makes, alters and repairs molds and components, complex, intricate and precise in nature.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under some supervision, the Mold Maintenance Technician makes, alters and repairs molds and components, complex, intricate and precise in nature. The following duties also apply:

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Works from detailed design drawings, engineering drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
  •  Disassembles, cleans, reassembles molds as needed.
  • Requires the ability to plan and lay out own work.
  • Determines accurate and efficient methods to construct and repair molds.
  • Selects proper metals and other material and lays out work using precision measuring instruments, shop mathematics and pertinent formula.
  • Sets up and operates all types of tool room equipment to include: lathes, millers, grinders, heat treating, drill presses, etc.
  • Uses various measuring instruments such as verniers, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.
  • Checks own work¾usually works to close tolerances.
  • Determines the sequences of operation, method of fabrication, type and amount of machine work or process operation required.
  • Lays out dimensions, angles, hole patterns and contours on raw material as a guide for machining and fabrication operations using trigonometry. The fabricated or assembles molds may involve compound angles, multiple-action-molds, deep draw molds, cam-action-molds involving closely coordinated holes, etc.
  • Must be able to give realistic quotes and meet delivery.
  • Works under little supervision.
  • Required to be in assigned area on the hour the shift begins.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Apprentice Graduate or 5 years mold experience required.
  • Frequent lifting of material 5-25 pounds. Occasional lifting 50 – 60 pounds.
  • Ability to contribute in an environment characterized by teamwork, participation, safety awareness, growth and change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to maintain relationships with customers and co-workers.
