Metrology Manager
The Metrologist is responsible for performing First Article Inspections, capability studies and Measurement Systems Analysis on injection molded plastic parts. The position requires use of manual/open setup measurement equipment as well as operation of programmable measuring equipment (ie. Optical and Coordinate Measurement Machines).
Perform first piece inspections, capability studies, and DOE (Design of Experiments) using measuring and test equipment with include, but not limited to:
Programmable CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and video measurement equipment
Profilometers or surface finish testers
Gear and roundness checkers
Hand held measuring tolls such as height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges
Precision flat plates
Conduct Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R & R) studies to validate setups and/or measuring systems
Generate Gauge R & R, First Article Inspection, Capability Studies, DOEs, and other dimensional reports using Microsoft Excel and other database software packages
Adhere to and comply with the Metrology Lab procedures.
Ability to operate Video and CMM equipment
Strong skills in all aspects of mechanical dimensional inspection
Knowledge of blue print reading, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Associate Degree in math or science, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail.
