Metrology Manager



The Metrologist is responsible for performing First Article Inspections, capability studies and Measurement Systems Analysis on injection molded plastic parts.  The position requires use of manual/open setup measurement equipment as well as operation of programmable measuring equipment (ie. Optical and Coordinate Measurement Machines). 



  • Perform first piece inspections, capability studies, and DOE (Design of Experiments) using measuring and test equipment with include, but not limited to:

  • Programmable CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and video measurement equipment

  • Profilometers or surface finish testers

  • Gear and roundness checkers

  • Hand held measuring tolls such as height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and pin gauges

  • Precision flat plates

  • Conduct Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R & R) studies to validate setups and/or measuring systems

  • Generate Gauge R & R, First Article Inspection, Capability Studies, DOEs, and other dimensional reports using Microsoft Excel and other database software packages

  • Adhere to and comply with the Metrology Lab procedures.



  • Ability to operate Video and CMM equipment

  • Strong skills in all aspects of mechanical dimensional inspection

  • Knowledge of blue print reading, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).

  • Associate Degree in math or science, or the equivalent in education and work experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.
