Avenue - a Nolato company based in Finisklin Business Park, Sligo is an award-winning mould-building company, and a growing medical device precision injection moulding business that has been successfully serving Ireland and the broader European markets for 30 years. Avenue also brings expertise in building ultra-high-cavitation tooling for the medical device, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical markets.

An Apprentice Toolmaker at Avenue will learn how to operate all machinery needed to produce and maintain precision tools used in the production of metal, plastic and other material. The work will involve interpreting drawings and technical data to machine and assemble with great accuracy jogs, fixtures, moulding tools, dies and punches. 

The apprentice will complete both on-the-job training at Avenue and attend a local college to complete their studies over a 4-year period.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Willingness to learn and understand how to operate all equipment needed to build and maintain precision tools
• Learn and understand how to apply technical data and drawings
• Check the work performed using appropriate measuring equipment
• Servicing and maintaining relevant equipment
• Willingness to continue your education by attending classes offered by Avenue primarily after working hours
• Willing to do all tasks assigned including but not limited to delivering parts to vendors if needed, machine maintenance as well as maintaining overall shop appearance

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Leaving Certificate (with a good Maths understanding)
• Strong mechanical ability
• Good basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills
