Quality Engineer

Great opportunity for Quality Engineer to join Avenue in Sligo.

Avenue - a Nolato company based in Finisklin Business Park, Sligo is an award-winning mould-building company, and a growing medical device precision injection moulding business that has been successfully serving Ireland and the broader European markets for 30 years. Avenue also brings expertise in building ultra-high-cavitation tooling for the medical device, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical markets.


The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the product manufactured, packaged, and shipped to our customers conform to all the established Quality Assurance and Customer Requirements and for enforcement of GMP compliance in the manufacturing areas. Drive the review, analysis and reporting of quality issues.


Responsibilities include:

  • Interface with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure efficient communication and resolution of problems.
  • Component batch release for shipment.
  • Generate, update, review and approve documented procedures related to the manufacturing areas and quality department.
  • Lead quality support QC inspectors on a day-to-day basis.
  • Generating and implementing new quality processes across the site.
  • Lead and document CAPA investigations and Quality Improvement programs.
  • Generate NC report for product non-conformance as necessary (in-house or reported by customer).
  • Oversee the reinspection/sort activity and perform final evaluation as per rework instruction.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP in all practices.
  • Tracking and trending of Non-conformances.
  • Provide quality support to the Process Engineering team during generation and execution of validation activities.
  • Perform other duties as may be required or requested by the Quality & regulatory Affairs Manager.


Required Skills:

  • 3-5years in a Quality Engineer role in a Manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Injection Moulding or Medical Device industry experience is desirable.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma approach and methodology for eliminating defects in the manufacturing process is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail and strong organisation skills essential.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and excellent communication skills.
  • A self-starter who uses initiative to identify problems, find solutions and make decisions.
