Molding Process Technician

DESCRIPTION:
The Molding Process Technician is responsible for ensuring that all molds are maintained appropriately and run efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train personnel in molding machine operations so that they can perform their jobs in a safe productive manner.
- Set-up, start and approve production runs using accepted GW quality standards. Update and maintain set up sheets and process sheets.
- Diagnose and correct problems with the molding processes, including molds, set ups, automation, etc.
- Recommend tooling changes that will improve the process capability.
- Monitor molding parameters, using approved techniques such as SPC/SQC, to ensure conformance to quality guidelines and standard cycles.
- Initiate MCA’s and work orders to correct problems with molds, molding machines, and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform minor record keeping tasks. This includes, but may not be limited to, recording cavitation levels, downtime reasons, machine logs, process adjustment notations on Process Control Charts, etc.
- Do regular preventive maintenance to the molds, such as cleaning and greasing.
- Perform as acting Shift Supervisor in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as defined by the Shift Team Leader / Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required.
- Applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job.
- Math aptitude required.
- Computer literate, a plus.
- Good communication skills.
