EMPLOYEE STORY

Sujeesh Kumar - Senior Tooling Engineer Nolato Querétaro, Mexico

What is your role at Nolato, and what do you find most exciting about your job?
As a Senior Tooling Engineer, I am responsible for quoting and procuring tooling for new projects. My role gives me the opportunity to collaborate closely with customers and suppliers, contributing to key decisions that shape the success of new project launches.

What are your biggest challenges, and how do you handle them?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced during this time was dealing with the poor-quality molds received from third-party mold makers. However, with the strong support of our tool shop and process team along with local suppliers, we were able to overcome these hurdles and ensure a successful SOP.

What has been your most memorable experience during your time at Nolato?
The day when we launched the production in the assembly line, which we transferred from USA to Mexico, where I served as Project Manager was a truly memorable milestone. This project introduced several new processes to our plant for the first time, including 2-shot molding, complete product assembly, a semi-automated assembly line, robotized packaging and palletizing, and semi-automatic film wrapping. It was a proud moment to see all these new processes working successfully.

What do you think makes Nolato stand out as an employer?
Opportunities for Growth: I've had the chance to lead complex projects, interact with customers and suppliers, and be part of key decision-making processes.  Focus on Innovation: Introducing new technologies like 2-shot molding, automated assembly lines, and robotized packaging highlights the Nolato's commitment to staying ahead in the precision plastics industry.  Collaborative Environment: The way we overcome challenges with support from the tool shop and process team is the example of strong teamwork and problem-solving culture that Nolato embraces. Even we receive support from our sister plants like Vermont and Hungary.

If you were to describe Nolato in three words, what would they be?
Innovative. Precise. Collaborative.

Do you have any interests or hobbies outside of work that inspire you in your job?
Outside of work, I find time for supporting the Indian community in Mexico, helping friends to navigate through the language barriers and local procedures. This has taught me the value of patience, empathy, and effective communication—skills that are just as important in engineering as they are in life. I also love cooking, which fuels my creativity and attention to detail, much like the technical challenges I face in my role.

What advice would you give to someone considering a job at Nolato?
For those who are just starting their journey in Nolato or considering to start, my advice is simple: Stay curious, be patient, and never stop learning. Every problem is an opportunity to innovate, and every success is a steppingstone to the next challenge. What I love most about working here is the company’s commitment to innovation, teamwork, and excellence. Challenges come and go, but what truly matters is how we face them, how we support each other, and how we grow stronger with every experience.
